Bali on a Budget: How I Explored Paradise for Just Over £1,000!

When I told people I was going to Bali for two weeks on a tight budget, their immediate reaction was, "How is that possible?" Well, let me share my secrets!

Flights

Flexibility is key when it comes to finding affordable flights. After comparing prices on Skyscanner, I booked my return flight from London Heathrow to Bali with Malaysia Airlines, making a stop at Kuala Lumpur. Being single and commitment-free allowed me to take advantage of the cheapest travel dates. Despite a few seat inconveniences, the overall flight experience was fantastic. And the price? An incredible £488.61!

Accommodation

As a solo traveler, I wanted a room to myself without breaking the bank. I chose to stay in Kuta, a popular area for Australians, ensuring English wouldn't be a barrier. I discovered the Cara Cara Inn, a hidden gem with a fantastic rating. For just £15 per night, I enjoyed a private room with an en-suite and breakfast included. It was the perfect base for my Bali adventures!

Trips

To make the most of my time in Bali, I pre-booked two trips before arriving. The Mexx Cooking School offered a cooking class and temple visit, providing transport, food, and entrance fees. It was a fantastic cultural experience that I paid for in cash upon arrival. Additionally, I found an all-inclusive tour through Get Your Guide, which was a bit more challenging as a solo traveler. However, the £57.92 price tag, including transportation, entrance fees, food, and drinks, made it worth the search.

Spending Money

Bali is a budget-friendly island, allowing you to indulge without draining your wallet. With £500 in spending money, I managed to only spend £300. This included shopping for new dresses, jewelry, delicious meals, refreshing drinks, and, of course, my cooking course.

With a total holiday cost of £1,024.93, I didn't quite hit the £1,000 mark, but it's still an incredible feat for a two-week trip to Bali. Plus, the money I saved meant I have extra to spend on my next adventure in Rome!

Prices correct as of May 2018
